Express Road Trailer Service (FTL & LTL)
Emerald Freight Express is licensed to operate a pan-European Road Freight service by the department of transport. As such we offer a full range of road freight services catering for full trailer loads and LTL for smaller pallet/carton shipments.
We also have an extensive service contract with TNT and this enables us to collect/deliver shipments across Europe on a daily scheduled basis. This contract also enables us to offer timed delivery/collection to meet our customers' specific just in time (JIT) demands.
All shipments are bar-coded to ensure easy track & trace and on-line proof of delivery door to door.
Road Freight Volumetric Calculations
The freight costs for many shipments moving by road are determined by the dimensions rather than the actual gross weight. The illustration below show how the dimensional weight factor is calculated as follows:
The Standard ( RHA-Road Haulage Allowance) Factor for Road Freight is 3 Cubic Metres = 1,000 Kilos.
This illustration shows how to calculate the Volumetric Chargeable Weight as follows:
Let's assume the actual Gross Weight Skid is 150 Kilos, this Skid measures 1 Metre X 1.2 Metres X 1.5 Metres, which is 1.8 Cubic Metres.
In this instance the Freight Charges for Road Freight are calculated as
1.8 Cubic Metres X 333 = 599.4 Kilos, so the Chargeable Weight is based on 599 Kilos.
