Port of MumbaiDespite total tonnage rising 3.4% in November, India’s port of Mumbai saw container traffic fall by 12.7% when compared to November 2010.

Despite the drop in traffic when compared to last year the Tariff Authority for Major Ports approved a tariff increase for the port of Mumbai despite strong protestations.

Mumbai port lies in the south section of the western edge of Mumbai Harbour and is commonly known as the “gateway to India”, and was pivotal in making Mumbai the commercial capital of India.
